Dean's Message
Nancy McCarthy has very kindly offered to take charge of Hospitality for the remainder of this season. I am very grateful to her. The social component is an important part of our events and I know Nancy will make sure we have all we need to be welcoming!
I hope you took note of a new service to be provided by our fantastic Sarah Bach and this publication announced at the end of the September issue. You may now publicize programs and offers of service etc. here by following her instructions.
Our annual Convocation went well. Richard Webster played beautifully. Dr. Heuss, Rector of St. David's, added a great deal. We are so lucky to have Father Angelica as a member. There was enough food to feed the entire Cape Cod and Islands Chapter. Josette Goff brought along our archive which could be an event in itself. My most sincere thanks to all those who took part!
Faithfully,
Chris

Johnette (Eakin) Schuller ~ Minister of sacred music
Mrs. Schuller was born of missionary parents, the Rev. John and Louisa Eakin, in Bangkok, Thailand. She earned degrees from the College of Wooster, Ohio; Eastman School of Music; and the University of Rochester, N.Y. She and her husband were Ministers of Sacred Music and organists at The Reformed Church of Bronxville, N.Y., for 31 years. Together they co-directed a graded choir program that included seven singing choirs and six English Handbell groups. In addition to preparing the choirs for worship, festival services and concerts, the Schullers administered a concert series that featured guest musicians and choirs from England, Germany and the United States.
Mrs. Schuller served as assistant organist/choir director of Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tenn.; director of music and organist of the Presbyterian Church in Bound Brook, N.J.; organist/choir director of Post Chapel, Fort George G. Meade, Md.; and organist/choir director of Calvary Lutheran Church, Verona, N.J. She was a member of Cape Cod and the Islands Chapter of The American Guild of Organists. She and her husband retired to Harwich in 2005.
Besides her husband she is survived by her siblings, Marjorie Kaufman, Elwood Eakin and Rosalou Donahue; and 14 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Route 137, East Harwich; and Saturday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. in The Reformed Church, Pondfield Road at Midland Avenue, Bronxville, N.Y. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Covenant House, Times Square Station, P.O. Box 731, New York, NY 10108-0900; or the Christian Children’s Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294.
Printed in the Cape Codder on September 27, 2007.

Placement
~ Cape Cod and the Islands ~
Church of the Messiah, Woods Hole, MA - is currently looking for a part-time organist and choirmaster for 10 hours per week.
The organ is a 1889 rebuilt Schlicker.
Specifics on the organ may be found on the Cape and Islands AGO website.
I look forward to working in a collegial relationship with the organist-choirmaster to further the ministry of music in this Episcopal congregation.
The choir right now is small, but has a good capability of growing given our location in Woods Hole.
We follow a traditional form of worship for the Episcopal Church even as I am now beginning to introduce some of the newer liturgical forms which have been written by the Episcopal Church's Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music.
The reason for the vacancy is the most recent organist has just retired after serving here for 10 years.
